Founding ethos
Hammond George was built from two complementary perspectives on how consequential objectives actually move: experience inside the institutions where decisions are made, and experience building the external infrastructure capable of shaping the environment around them.
Those backgrounds shaped a shared premise: the most consequential objectives rarely move through one channel alone. A legislative strategy becomes stronger when credible external voices are organized around it. A business objective becomes more durable when institutional relationships and community engagement reinforce one another. Communications become more effective when they are connected to a broader strategy rather than operating independently.
Hammond George was created to bring those pieces together. We combine institutional knowledge with the ability to build the relationships, communications, public support, coalition infrastructure, and operational capacity necessary to move ambitious objectives forward.
Scott Hammond
Co-Founder
&
President
Scott Hammond brings more than a decade of experience inside Nevada government and public institutions, including service in both chambers of the Nevada Legislature. He was elected to the Nevada Assembly in 2010 and to the State Senate in 2012, where he represented District 18 and served in Senate leadership as both Co-Majority Whip and Co-Minority Whip. Over the course of his legislative career, he served on committees covering education, healthcare, judiciary, transportation, commerce and labor, finance, growth and infrastructure, and other major areas of state policy.
Scott became particularly known for his work on education, workforce development, and economic infrastructure. That perspective was shaped by a career that began in the classroom. He spent 16 years teaching social studies and Spanish in the Clark County School District and also taught political science at UNLV.
Scott concluded his service in the Nevada Senate in October 2023. The following month, Governor Joe Lombardo appointed him Executive Director of the Governor's Office of Workforce Innovation, where he worked on workforce development, apprenticeships, career pathways, industry-recognized credentials, labor-market strategy, and efforts to better align Nevada's education and workforce systems with the needs of employers.
That combination of legislative, executive-branch, education, and workforce experience gives Scott a firsthand understanding of how ideas develop inside public institutions, how competing interests shape policy, what earns credibility with decision-makers, and what it takes to move an objective from concept to implementation.
Scott earned his bachelor's and master's degrees in political science from UNLV. He and his wife, Tonya, have been married for more than three decades and have four children. Family and community have remained central to his life throughout his career in education and public service.

Why Hammond George
The firm was built to operate comfortably with senior executives, policymakers, institutional leaders, and funders while also building the external infrastructure necessary to create meaningful support beyond those rooms.
Our goal is not simply to advise clients on the environment surrounding an objective. It is to help build the conditions that allow that objective to move.
